- [Instructor] We're here to look at how to installthe SQL Server data tools in Visual Studio 2017.The first step is to run the installer.I've searched for the Visual Studio installerin my Start menu and I'll choose this desktop app.On this screen, you'll see your installed versionsof Visual Studio. In my case, I have Enterprise, so I'll click on Modify. Then let's go take a look at the Individual Components. These are the tools that you wantto have installed for the courseand they're in this Cloud, Database, and Server section.

We don't need all these tools, but we will need ones like the SQL Server Data Tools. It's nice to have the LocalDB available,so you'll want to install thisSQL Server Express 2016 LocalDB.It's good to have the SQL Server Native Clientfor deploying your database on client machinesor the Command Line Utilities. And you could add these individuallyif they're not selected in your install, but another way to add them is to go to Workloadsand you can get all of them by putting a check markhere in Azure Development.

You will also get a lot of these componentswhen you add some other workloads. For instance, you can get themin the ASP.NET and Web Development if you add this workload. You also get most of the toolswhen you do Universal Windows Platform Development. For this one, make sure you do havethe Azure Development checkbox checked, because we'll be using Azure during the course.Next, you'd click on Modify, wait until the install's done, and then you're ready to follow along.
